Itinerary
If weather conditions are clear and your flight is on time, you may be treated to awe-inspiring views of Mount Everest and the towering Himalayan range. Upon landing in the picturesque Paro Valley, you'll be warmly welcomed by our team at Paro International Airport. From there, embark on a scenic drive to Thimphu, where you'll enjoy a brief introductory tour of the capital city. Spend the night relaxing in Thimphu.
After breakfast, your guide will pick you up for a full-day exploration of Bhutan’s capital. Begin with a visit to the Memorial Chorten, a revered stupa built in honor of the third king of Bhutan (1952–1972). Continue to the National Institute for Zorig Chusum, often referred to as the Painting School, where you can witness students mastering Bhutanese arts and crafts.
Head over to the Handicrafts Emporium, where local textiles, handwoven garments, and traditional crafts are on display and available for purchase. You’ll then stop at a small wildlife enclosure to observe the Takin, the country’s unusual and symbolic national animal.
Next, make your way to Buddha Dordenma (Buddha Point), home to the largest Buddha statue in Bhutan, and enjoy panoramic views of Thimphu city. In the evening, wrap up your cultural journey with a visit to Tashi Chho Dzong, an impressive fortress that also houses government offices and monastic institutions. Later, return to Paro for an overnight stay.
After an early breakfast, drive to the starting point of your hike to the famous Taktsang Monastery, also known as the Tiger’s Nest. This sacred site, perched dramatically on a cliffside about 800 meters (2,640 feet) above the Paro Valley, is a must-see for visitors to Bhutan.
The round-trip hike typically takes 5 to 6 hours and includes sections of gradual inclines, steeper climbs, and forested trails. For those who prefer not to walk the entire way, horseback rides are available for an additional $25 per person (up to the halfway point).
Following breakfast, you’ll be transferred to Paro International Airport for your departure. We hope your journey through Bhutan leaves you with lasting memories and a deep appreciation for its culture and landscapes.
